Is EVA new or old?

EVA materials can indeed be classified into "virgin material" and "recycled material," or what you referred to as "new material" and "old material."

  1. Virgin Material: This refers to EVA material that is produced directly from original raw materials without undergoing any recycling process. Virgin material boasts superior physical properties, such as excellent elasticity and durability, and since it hasn't been reprocessed multiple times, it also exhibits better chemical stability. It typically meets the high standards required for the manufacture of premium products.

  2. Recycled Material: Recycled EVA, on the other hand, is made from collected, shredded, cleaned, and regranulated used EVA products. The performance of recycled material might be inferior to that of virgin material, potentially showing differences in properties like hardness, elasticity, and color consistency, and may contain more impurities. However, it comes at a lower cost, making it suitable for applications where material performance is not as critical, such as in the production of lower-end consumer goods or packaging materials.

Additionally, there exists a "semi-virgin" or "mid-grade" material, which is a blend of approximately half virgin material and half recycled material. This offers performance and cost between that of pure virgin and recycled materials, suitable for certain mid-range applications.

The choice between using virgin or recycled EVA depends on the quality requirements of the final product, cost considerations, and a company's environmental sustainability approach.
